Sunflowers are a great way to add color and brightness to dark places.
You can add this sunflower to cup cozies like I did in the picture above. I also use this flower pattern on slippers.
Eight Petal Sunflower Applique crochet pattern Created by: TorreyaTreasures Materials Yarn Medium, size 4, worsted weight acrylic Color A: 1 oz brown Color B: 1 oz bright yellow Hook Size G-6/ 4.25mm Gauge Applique measures approximately 4 inches in diameter. Abbreviations Ch = chain Sc = single crochet Tr = treble crochet Slst = slip stitch
Begin Round 1 Using color A, make a magic circle/ slipknot circle and ch 4 (counts as a tr). Tr crochet 15 times into circle (16 tr total). Join with a slst at top of ch 4. Change to color B. Round 2 Using color B, * ch3, sc in each of next two tr. Repeat from * seven more times. (Eight ch 3 spaces total). Round 3 (petals) (* 2 sc into the ch 3 space, ch 3 picot, 1 sc into same ch 3 space), slst into the next two sc. Repeat from * seven more times. Fasten off. Applique may be sewn or hot glued in place on fabric, hats, mittens, gloves, or even greeting cards.
